At American Rare Coins we strive to build a business on satisfied customers. We are a straight-forward, easy-to-deal-with business and uphold a strict code of fair and accurate grading and pricing and fair business practices. Our business plan is not designed to be a flea market-like business but rather to focus our attention on the advanced area of collecting. We specialize in proof and uncirculated type coins, gold coins, silver dollars, scarce and rare date coins, complete sets, and pre 1927 currency. We buy and sell millions in rare coins and currency each year and have handled numerous great numismatic rarities. Our devotion to maintianing our diversified top quality inventory requires us to spend 100-125 days per year on national buying trips. Our travel time enables us to stay  abreast of the current marketplace on a national basis. You can rest assured our staffs experience and knowledge is adequate enough to assemble or liquidate even the finest of collections.

Our Staff                                                                          

Our owner W. Scott Standafer offers over 30 years experience in rare coins. In 1967, Scott's grandmother gave him a small collection of a few silver coins and wheat cents. He found them interesting and started adding to the collection by sorting through penny rolls and spending his lawn mowing money at the local coin shop in Atlanta where he grew up. He decided to make his lifelong passion of rare coins his full-time exclusive career in 1980. Scott has attended numerous coin and currency collage courses including detection of counterfeits.
